What this roll records

HE WAS SEPARATED FROM ANOTHER MAN ON 11 SEPTEMBER 2026. Until then this roll carried no Apicella: the surname appeared only inside another man’s, as “Aquilina (Apicella), E.”, where it had been taken for a second spelling of Aquilina. THE CORRECTED TROOPERS ROLL MARKS THAT ENTRY “two diff men” and gives this man a line of his own: G. APICELLA, service number 7615460, LIGHT REPAIR SECTION, first appearing on the nominal roll of 31 AUGUST 1941. He shares the Light Repair Section with Sergeant E. Aquilina and nothing else — a different surname, a different forename, a different service number. WHAT IS NOT KNOWN IS LEFT EMPTY. His rank, his regiment and his dates are not recorded here, and they have deliberately NOT been borrowed from the man he was separated from; borrowing is how the two came to be one entry in the first place. If you can add anything about him, please post in the LRDG Preservation Society’s Facebook Group. Source: Ian Chard’s red-line corrections to the L.R.D.G. P.S.
