What this roll records

Deeper background (2026): The London Gazette records his commission as Second Lieutenant, Royal Army Service Corps, from an O.C.T.U. cadet, with effect from 9 August 1941 (supplement to issue 35256, p. 4947), and his transfer to the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers as Second Lieutenant on 1 October 1942 (supplement to issue 35848, p. 159) — REME being the corps that ran the LRDG’s Light Repair Section. Both confirmed against service number 201545. Source: The London Gazette.

Checked CWGC 27 Jul 2026 by service number #201545: no casualty record found (i.e. survived the war). Definitive rank would require UK service record (National Archives, WO series) - not free/online.

Rank not found online. British Army enlistment number - WWII service records are not published online. Where to look: MOD Army Personnel Centre, Historic Disclosures, Glasgow (next-of-kin application), or TNA WO 416/WO 417 series for POW/casualty listings.
