THE MILITARY MEDAL, WHICH THIS ROLL DID NOT RECORD. London Gazette, 24 November 1942, Supplement 35799, page 5142, under “The Military Medal.”: “No. 3710907 Signalman (acting Corporal) Stanley BRANDRETH, Royal Corps of Signals.” It gives his forename in full, where this card held only the initial S., and names his corps. *** NOTE THE SURNAME: the Gazette spells it BRANDRETH, not Brandeth. *** The service number is exact. The surname has been left as it stands pending a decision. Source: The London Gazette.
Checked CWGC 28 Jul 2026 by service number: no casualty record (survived the war).
THE SURNAME ON THIS CARD HAS BEEN CORRECTED FROM BRANDETH TO BRANDRETH, the spelling the 2026 service-number audit established. His forename was corrected to Stanley at the time and the surname was missed. The superseded spelling is kept in the AKA field.
