SAMUEL, WITH SAMMY KEPT, AND HIS DUTIES AS QUARTERMASTER. Two changes here from two different hands, and they should not be confused. THE FORENAME IS AN EDITORIAL EXPANSION AND NOT A SOURCED ONE: this card said “Sammy” and so does the corrected Troopers roll; no document on this roll spells the name out. Tony Moore set it to SAMUEL on 11 September 2026 as the formal form of the name he was called by, and SAMMY IS KEPT AS HIS AKA so nothing is lost and he is still found under it. If a record ever shows the name was something else, the AKA is the part that is evidenced and the forename is the part to correct. THE DUTY IS SOURCED: that roll gives “QM” against him and QUARTERMASTER now stands in his duties. The column beside it reads “QM Major”, which is a rank rather than a duty and is not in a form this roll uses, SO NO RANK HAS BEEN ENTERED — his rank field is still empty. ALSO ON THAT ROW AND NOT APPLIED: a parent unit, the OXFORDSHIRE AND BUCKINGHAMSHIRE LIGHT INFANTRY, where this card is empty; service in ITALY; and a date of 12 AUGUST 1945. This card holds NO SERVICE NUMBER for him at all, and that row does not supply one either. Recorded from Ian Chard’s red-line corrections to the L.R.D.G. P.S. Troopers roll, supplied by Tony Moore 11 September 2026 (LRDG_IanChard_Troopers_redlines_vs_roll_2026-09-11.xlsx).
