THE MONTH WAS WRONG, AND THIS ROLL ALREADY CONTAINED THE EVIDENCE. Two notes on this card cite the same appendix, one giving 23 November 1943 and one giving 23 OCTOBER 1943, and the November reading had been written into the status field. Appendix V, photographed on 2 September 2026, reads “Byatt — L/Cpl. W. — 6918661 — 23 Oct”. He was taken on 23 October 1943, four weeks before the fall of Leros.
