What this roll records
The roll formerly carried this man a THIRD time, as “Carr, C.A.” — a Lance Corporal of Y2 Patrol with no service number, no regiment and no other detail, which is the shape every duplicate stub on this roll has taken. The merge was prompted by a photograph in the collection’s master folder captioned for this man by his Y Patrol service, which had no card of its own. It is not the same photograph as the Y Patrol F30 group crop that stood here before, and for a moment it looked like a fourth Carr; but Brendan O’Carroll’s caption gives him as “L/Cpl S.M. Carr”. Rank and patrol agree. The two records were merged in August 2026, keeping this entry, which carries his service number, 325427. The initials C. A. do not match S. M. and no source has been found that reads them that way, so the merge rests on rank and patrol rather than on the initials, and the discarded form is recorded here so that anyone who knows him by it still finds him. The studio portrait from the master folder now stands on this card in place of the group crop, which is kept in the collection.

The roll formerly carried this man twice, as “Carr, Steve” and as “Carr, Michael” — both Lance Corporals of Y Patrol, Staffordshire Yeomanry, both recorded as the patrol’s navigator. Brendan O’Carroll’s caption reads “L/Cpl S.M. Carr”, which fits the AKA “Mike” held here. The two records were merged in August 2026, keeping the entry that carries his service number, 325427. Note that the Michael Carr entry gave no service number, so the merge rests on the match of rank, patrol, regiment and role rather than on a number.
