CWGC: Trooper Douglas Athol Davison, service no. 263694, New Zealand Armoured Corps (Divisional Cavalry Regt) and Long Range Desert Group. Died 23 October 1943, aged 22 (lost on the Levitha raid, night of 23/24 October 1943). No known grave; commemorated on the Athens Memorial, Face 12, Greece. (CWGC dates his death 23 October 1943; the roll and O'Carroll give 24 October 1943 — the raid ran overnight.) Source: Commonwealth War Graves Commission.

Son of William Whitecross Davison and Elizabeth Davison, of Whatoro, Dargaville. Sting of the Scorpion (Brendan O'Carroll) — the assault on Levita: Levita: with Tpr J. T. Bowler and a POW, volunteered to reach the landing place for water and to recover the Folboats; never returned. Posted missing, presumed killed — his body was never found, and he may have fallen into one of the island's deep rocky crevasses or into the sea.
