Died 6 April 1945, aged 35, while a prisoner of war, of dysentery and exhaustion. Captured 25 October 1943; held at Stalag VIII-B (later Stalag 344), Lamsdorf; POW serial 35876. Buried at Hanover War Cemetery, Germany. Son of Henry Bruce Dobson and Emily Daisy Houghton Dobson (nee Cawte), of Blenheim. Brother of Tpr Thomas Bruce Dobson (also LRDG). Sting of the Scorpion (Brendan O'Carroll) — the assault on Levita: Levita, 23–24 Oct 1943: held the central position, in charge of the bulk of the men; his handling of the captured German NCO to lead the patrol from post to post is recounted in Kiwi Scorpions.
