What this roll records
The AKA field on this card formerly ran two nicknames together as one, and one of the two was a racial epithet in common use at the time and not one now. It has been withdrawn from the card by the roll’s compiler in August 2026 and the other, Les, kept. The withdrawn word is recorded in the research files so that the fact of it is not lost. NOTE that it also stands inside the quoted patrol crew lists on this site, which are transcriptions of a wartime source rather than fields on this card, and those have been left as the source has them pending a decision.
