The roll formerly carried this man twice, as “Eyre, Cyril Walter” and as “Ayre, Cyril”. The original Long Range Patrol nominal roll of 5 December 1940 spelled the name Ayre; the Auckland War Memorial Museum Online Cenotaph and the LRDG Preservation Society both give Eyre, with service number NZ #1305. The two records were merged in August 2026, keeping the Eyre spelling as the documented one.
