CHECKED AGAINST THE COMMONWEALTH WAR GRAVES COMMISSION, 25 August 2026: NO CASUALTY RECORD, AND HE IS NOT THERE. Six men named Landman are held, all of them South African, Canadian or New Zealand, and none of them Arthur. LANDMANN WITH TWO N’S WAS TRIED AS WELL — the Federmann precedent on this roll is exactly that, a single letter standing between a man and his record — and it returns the same six. The number N/18473 returns nothing. The Commission records the dead, so his absence from it is evidence that he came home. THE “N/” PREFIX REMAINS UNEXPLAINED: he is not in the records, and the Commission cannot be searched by prefix alone, so nothing here touches it. Source: CWGC, Find War Dead, searched 25 August 2026.
