His service number has deliberately NOT been prefixed NZ. The field reads “#42340 R.A.M.C”, and the Royal Army Medical Corps is a British corps, so the number and the corps pull in different directions. New Zealanders did serve in New Zealand medical units and the attribution may simply be loose, but it should be established rather than assumed.
