POSSIBLE DUPLICATE, RECORDED BUT NOT MERGED (2026). This card and the card for “Manfield, John O.” may be the same man. IN FAVOUR: John O. is J.O. exactly. AGAINST: the surnames differ by two letters, Manfield against Maxfield, which is more than a single slip. The two entries have deliberately NOT been merged. They are recorded here so that the question is visible on both cards rather than buried in a research file, and so that anyone who can settle it — a family member, a nominal roll, a photograph caption — can see what is being asked.
