POSSIBLE DUPLICATE, RECORDED BUT NOT MERGED (2026). This card and the card for “Moyes, G.N.” may be the same man. IN FAVOUR: the surnames differ by one vowel and the first initial agrees. AGAINST: THE SECOND INITIAL DISAGREES — H against N — and so do the ranks, Corporal against Private. Two disagreements is one more than a spelling variant should produce. The two entries have deliberately NOT been merged. They are recorded here so that the question is visible on both cards rather than buried in a research file, and so that anyone who can settle it — a family member, a nominal roll, a photograph caption — can see what is being asked.
Rank "Corporal" added from IWM 1945 roll. Source: IWM Nominal Roll, LRDG Association, July 1945 (Imperial War Museum).
