Army number discrepancy: the service number recorded here (28113) is shown by CWGC as belonging to Private H. V. Carpendale, 1st Rand Light Infantry (S.A. Forces), who died 24 October 1942 and is buried at El Alamein War Cemetery (III.D.5), Egypt, not to G. W. Nangle. Nangle's correct army number needs verification.

Checked (2026): The Auckland War Memorial Museum Online Cenotaph holds no Nangle of any war or any force. Recorded so the search is not repeated.
