What this roll records
DUPLICATE RECORD MERGED (2026). The roll held this man twice — once with his service number and once without it, under a variant spelling of the surname. The entry with no number could not be caught by the shared-number test that found the earlier duplicates, nor by the photograph test, because it had neither. It was found by asking whether the roll already held him with a number. This card is the survivor; the discarded entry read “Parslowe, R.S.”. Both entries are Sergeants, and R.S. fits Reginal S. THIS MERGE BEARS ON AN OPEN QUESTION: Parsloe is one of the roll’s four unresolved Rhodesian shared-number conflicts, sharing a number with Berry, and that case should be re-read now the two entries are established as one man. Note also that the forename recorded here, “Reginal”, is very probably Reginald with the d lost; it has not been changed without a source.

SERVICE NUMBER CORRECTED (2026). This card formerly carried SR598100 alongside SR598898. IT IS NOT HIS, AND HIS OWN CARD SAID SO: the note recording what the Rhodesia Nominal Roll holds for him gives SR598898. The same source gives SR598100 to Poole, Leonard, whose card cites it directly as his service number together with his nickname “Zulu”. SR598100 has been removed; SR598898 remains, and it is the sourced one.
