London Gazette, 18 September 1945, Supplement 37274, page 4675, under the heading “The Military Cross.”: “Lieutenant George Victor PITT (307397), The King’s Royal Rifle Corps.” The list’s preamble reads “The KING has been graciously pleased to approve the following awards in recognition of gallant and distinguished services in Italy”. It gives his forenames in full, names his regiment as THE KING’S ROYAL RIFLE CORPS where this card named none, and confirms his Military Cross against his exact service number, with the theatre and the date.
