Checked (2026): The Auckland War Memorial Museum Online Cenotaph holds fourteen Players, all read, and none is a John Dane Player or carries 29981. Worth noting that his number sits inside the 2NZEF range where every other man found in this sweep has fallen, so the number range is a reason to search rather than proof of nationality. Recorded so the search is not repeated.
