What this roll records
DUPLICATE RECORD MERGED (2026). The roll held this man twice — once with his service number and once without it, under a variant spelling of the surname. The entry with no number could not be caught by the shared-number test that found the earlier duplicates, nor by the photograph test, because it had neither. It was found by asking whether the roll already held him with a number. This card is the survivor; the discarded entry read “Rogers, R.K.”. R.K. is Robert Kitchener exactly. This is a DIFFERENT Rogers/Rodgers pair from the one merged in pass 14, which was the two Williams. TWO PHOTOGRAPHS EXIST FOR THIS MAN and only one can sit on the card: the discarded entry carried “Rogers_R_K.jpg” while this card carries “Rodgers, Robert Kichner.jpg”. The second filename is kept here so the image is not lost track of; whether the two are the same photograph has not been checked.
