A NOTE ON THE O.B.E. This card’s honours field reads “MBE, OBE”, but the Online Cenotaph record it cites gives the M.B.E. and the campaign medals only, with no Order of the British Empire at the higher grade, and no other source on this card carries the O.B.E. either. The honours field has been left exactly as it stands; this note records the state of the evidence. Source: The London Gazette.

Embarkation detail from his Cenotaph record: he embarked as Trooper. This agrees with the rank held on this card. Source: Auckland War Memorial Museum Online Cenotaph, record C140936.
The prefix NZ has been added to his service number, on the authority of the Auckland War Memorial Museum Online Cenotaph record already linked on this card — the Museum holds him as a New Zealand service person. The digits are unchanged. This roll formerly left the number unmarked, which made it look like a British number to anyone reading the field rather than the card.
