The service-number field on this card read “Y-2 Patrol”. A patrol is not a service number and it has been cleared from that field. IT HAS NOT BEEN MOVED TO HIS PATROL FIELD, BECAUSE THAT FIELD ALREADY SAYS SOMETHING DIFFERENT: this card records him as Y1, while the number field said Y2. THE CARD CONTRADICTED ITSELF and neither reading has been preferred here. His patrol field is left as it stands, at Y1, and the Y2 reading is recorded in this note. HIS SERVICE NUMBER IS NOT KNOWN.
